Mega Cleanliness Drive Held at Surya Sarovar under Swachhata Hi Seva-2026
Call for Public Participation in Building a Clean and Environment-Friendly BLW*
Varanasi ! In compliance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, and under the guidance of General Manager Shri Ashutosh Pant, various activities related to cleanliness, environmental conservation and public awareness are being continuously organized at Banaras Locomotive Works under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva-2026’ campaign.
As part of this initiative, a mega cleanliness drive was organized today at Surya Sarovar under the aegis of the Safety Department. The drive was led by Deputy Chief Safety Officer Shri Palash Saxena. On the occasion, Public Relations Officer Shri Rajesh Kumar, employees of the Safety Department and Public Relations Department, and members of the Surya Sarovar Conservation Club participated enthusiastically.
During the drive, extensive cleaning was carried out in the Surya Sarovar premises and surrounding areas, and proper disposal of the collected waste and garbage was ensured. Members of the Surya Sarovar Conservation Club actively participated in the campaign and conveyed the message of keeping the lake and its surrounding natural environment clean, beautiful and protected.
On the occasion, Deputy Chief Safety Officer Shri Palash Saxena and Public Relations Officer Shri Rajesh Kumar said that ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ is not merely a campaign but a commitment towards collective responsibility for creating a clean and healthy environment. Collective participation plays an important role in maintaining cleanliness and conserving natural and significant places such as Surya Sarovar. BLW is continuously making efforts to promote cleanliness, environmental conservation and public participation.
They further stated that the active participation of the Surya Sarovar Conservation Club further strengthens awareness towards cleanliness and environmental conservation. Such collective efforts make a significant contribution towards building a clean, beautiful and environment-friendly BLW.
Under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva-2026’ campaign, various activities related to cleanliness, environmental conservation and public awareness are being continuously organized at offices, residential complexes, public places and other important locations across BLW.
