67th Men’s All India Inter-Railway Wrestling Championship 2026-27 Inaugurated with Grandeur at BLW
General Manager Shri Ashutosh Pant Inaugurates the Championship by Releasing Balloons and Lighting the Ceremonial Lamp
Varanasi: The 67th Men’s All India Inter-Railway Wrestling Championship 2026-27 was inaugurated with grandeur at Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) today, on 29 September 2026. The three-day prestigious championship, being held from 29 September to 01 October 2026, was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, General Manager Shri Ashutosh Pant, at the BLW Wrestling Centre by releasing balloons and lighting the ceremonial lamp.
On the occasion, General Manager Shri Ashutosh Pant encouraged the wrestlers and extended his best wishes for displaying sportsmanship, discipline and excellence. Thereafter, the inaugural bout was held between BLW wrestler Arjun Yadav and Northern Railway wrestler Dinesh. General Manager Shri Ashutosh Pant shook hands with both wrestlers and formally commenced the bout. In the 69 kg Freestyle Wrestling category, BLW’s Arjun Yadav put up an impressive performance and emerged victorious.
It is noteworthy that a total of 13 teams are participating in this prestigious Indian Railways championship, including Northern Railway (NR), Central Railway (CR), Western Railway (WR), North Western Railway (NWR), North Central Railway (NCR), Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW), Railway Protection Force (RPF), North Eastern Railway (NER), East Central Railway (ECR), Railway Board (RB), West Central Railway (WCR) and South Western Railway (SWR).
The championship features competitions in Freestyle Wrestling in the 57, 61, 65, 70, 74, 79, 86, 92, 97 and 125 kg weight categories, while Greco-Roman Wrestling competitions are being held in the 55, 60, 63, 67, 72, 77, 82, 87, 97 and 130 kg weight categories.
On the day, winners of the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be decided in the 70 kg, 92 kg, 79 kg and 61 kg Freestyle categories and the 55 kg, 72 kg, 87 kg and 130 kg Greco-Roman categories.
The spectacular bouts, impressive wrestling techniques and powerful performances by the wrestlers filled the entire Wrestling Centre with excitement and enthusiasm. Sports enthusiasts boosted the morale of the players with thunderous applause and enthusiastic support, taking the thrill of the matches to its peak. Olympians and Arjuna Award-winning wrestlers participating in the championship remained a major attraction.
